We currently undertake onshore and offshore projects in Australia, South-East Asia and Africa, and frequently seek additional staff and consultants for ongoing or new projects.

Drilling Manager

Drilling Manager with a minimum of 20 years experience with oil and gas operating companies in technical and supervisory positions required for a residential position in Yangon, Myanmar, reporting to our Client’s Operations Director. Applicants must possess a BSc Engineering Degree as a minimum.

An exciting opportunity to manage an offshore gas development program, with both subsea and platform wells. Extensive experience from offshore development projects involving both surface and subsea well designs will be required.

The Drilling Manager’s role is to:

  • Oversee, manage and coordinate the combined efforts within the Operations Department of the drilling and completions team, the contracts, materials and logistics team, the HSE team, the rig supervision and operations team, the cost engineer, and the administrative staff;
  • Ensure that his teams work efficiently towards set goals and assigned tasks which contribute to and fulfil the requirements of the Operations Department within our Client’s organisation;
  • Communicate with other departments within our Client’s organisation to ensure that maximum synergy through effective team work is maintained in achieving our Client’s goals;
  • Develop operational strategies for consideration by the Operations Director based on an integrated approach with other company departments and on the overall company goals and requirement as notified to him by the Operations Director;
  • Maintain project schedules to assure timely and efficient completion of the tasks required and recommends adequate human resources to achieve this work;
  • Make progress reports on a regular basis to the Operations Director, and immediately brings to his attention any problems that need the Operation Director's assistance to resolve.

The Drilling Manager’s responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that all activities are carried out in compliance with our Client’s company policies, the Production Sharing Contract, IPS Well Operations Management System, and Myanmar government laws and regulations;
  • Monitoring and ensure full compliance with HSE standards and objectives as defined by our Client’s company policy. Effectively manage incident investigations and ensure all recommended remedial actions are completed to resolve root causes and prevent recurrence;
  • Developing and practicing emergency response plans for all operational activities;
  • Managing the planning and execution of tasks to achieve goals defined by the Operations Director within the agreed schedule and approved expenditure;
  • Building, managing and mentoring the Operations Department teams to ensure appropriate and competent resources are available when required;
  • Overseeing and managing the preparation and approval of budgets and AFE’s, purchase orders for long lead items, rig and third party contracts, and development well construction programs, and all other Operations Department activities;
  • Continually striving to increase departmental efficiency and work quality through systems improvement;
  • Ensuring that all drilling and well construction projects are adequately documented and summarized in final reports, and that project reviews are conducted to identify lessons learned for systems and procedural improvements.

This is an IPSAA staff position with a generous overseas package, and the duration of this engagement is expected to be 2 – 4 years. The candidate must have excellent command of written and spoken English. Senior Completions Engineer

Senior Completions Engineer with a minimum of 10 years experience required for an offshore development project in Myanmar.

Extensive experience from offshore development projects involving both surface and subsea well designs will be required. Responsibilities will include:

  • Option evaluation and development of completions design basis for high rate gas producers.
  • Tubing design calculations
  • Evaluation and recommendation of downhole sand control options.
  • Development of specification for key completion components
  • Establish component reliability requirements
  • Development of cost and schedule estimates for completion activities
  • Development of strategy for life of well intervention requirements
  • Development of tender documentation for of long lead completions equipment

Initial duration of this engagement is 4–6 months. Work location will be Yangon, Myanmar on a rotational or resident basis. Candidate must have excellent command of written and spoken English. Well testing experience will be a plus but is not a strict requirement.

Senior Drilling Engineer — Immediate Requirement

Senior Drilling Engineer with 10-15 years experience required for a permanent position based in Perth, Western Australia.

You will provide mentoring, leadership and support to the IPS in-house engineering team as well as consultancy to IPS clients encompassing a range of disciplines such as well design and planning, project management and wellsite operations supervision.

As a minimum requirement, you must have an Engineering Degree qualification.

IPS will provide comprehensive assistance with relocation, settlement and work permits/visas to the successful applicant, and their family, if applicable.
